Dr. Salim Khaleel
Dr. Salim Khaleel has over 40 years of experience in industrial management, economic and financial studies with industrial groups, and ongoing work within environmental protection, and chemical safety and security programs.
Over the last 12 years, Dr. Salim has worked with the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Cooperative Threat Reduction Chemical Security Program (CSP) to provide training and technical experience to the industrial sector in Iraq. These CSP programs included participants from Iraq’s Ministry of Industry & Minerals (MIM) as well as within its private sector. Dr. Salim played a vital role within special expert committees spanning different Iraqi industries to support the development and application of chemical-focused legislative policies, practices, and protocols related to the import-export, transportation, distribution, and storage of chemical materials in Iraq.
Dr. Salim has provided expert consulting, in support of U.S.-sponsored global chemical safety and security initiatives, to profit and nonprofit organizations such as AcuTech Consulting Group and CRDF Global, as well as U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratories including Sandia (SNL), Oak Ridge (ORNL), Brookhaven (BNL), and Pacific Northwest (PNNL).
Since 2004 Dr. Salim worked as an industrial expert and special advisor to His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Minerals in Iraq. He also served as the Chairman of Al-Hilal Industrial Co. between 2006 and 2008. Prior to that Dr. Salim was Chairman and Director General of 17th Nissan State Co. in Baghdad.
Dr. Salim is currently working as a subject matter expert with the EU CBRN Centre of Excellence SCK CEN on the Improvement of Chemical Safety and Security in the Middle East providing vital training and support for organizations within Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon. Dr. Salim is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS), American Water Work Association, Iraqi Chemical Society (ICS), and serves the Al-Rafidain Association for Chemical Dealers (NGO) as a Founder and Vice Chairman. Dr. Salim is also a member of the Iraqi Occupational Health and Safety Society and is an honorary member of the Iraqi Businessmen Union.
