Shaina Mason is a proven program and operations manager with ten years of experience. Prior to her career in International Security, Shaina worked for a hazardous materials company for four years where she oversaw the management and operations of three customer service offices, logistics in two field offices, and financial compliance for company headquarters. Following receipt of her undergraduate degree, Shaina relocated to Alexandria, Virginia to work at a for-profit company that was focused on sustainable security assistance. During that period, Shaina provided program, project, business development, and research support to U.S. Department of Defense, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, U.S. Department of State (DoS), Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, and U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratory initiatives across the Middle East and North Africa, Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
Shaina also co-authored or contributed to national assessments focused on Border and Aviation Security as part of DoS Export Control and Related Border Security program sponsored capacity building projects for Iraq.
Shaina hails from a diverse family which has in many ways served as a pathway to her interest in global affairs. This, coupled with her deep desire and drive to do her part to make the world a safer place makes her a natural fit for Coalescion and its community.
Shaina received her Master's degree in Global, Social and Political Thought from the University of St. Andrews and Bachelor’s degree in International Studies with a Minor in French from Queen’s University of Charlotte, North Carolina. She studied French in Nice, France where she also took courses on Comparative Politics reinforcing her growing passion for the field of international politics and security. As both a California native and honorary North Carolinian, Shaina fell in love with the outdoors at an early age, and enjoys backpacking, hiking, fly fishing, rock-climbing, and camping. Her love of the outdoors is not restricted to home, with her global adventures taking her to places like the Grampian, Cascade, Pyrenees, and Dolomite Mountains, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, the Matterhorn, and Mont Blanc.
